On 22nd and 23rd March, ñR•þ¾WÉÏͶעapp undertook a visit to China in collaboration with the International Association of Ambulatory Surgery (IAAS). Back
David Bunting, Doug McWhinnie and Ian Jackson were invited by the China Ambulatory Surgery Association (CASA) to deliver a 2-day ‘Training the Trainers in Ambulatory Surgery’ Course.
Representatives from 12 provincial hospitals across China attended the course to learn from best practices established in the UK and other nations represented by the IAAS. Delegates were encouraged during workshop sessions to develop their own local day surgery pathway service improvement projects. They had the opportunity to present to these to the wider group where they were offered feedback and suggestions for further pathway development.
ñR•þ¾WÉÏͶעapp has now developed a strong collaboration with CASA having hosted a visit to some of the UKs pioneering day surgery centres last year. We look forward to developing the relationship further to exchange expertise as China rapidly develops its day surgery services.
While the UK has an established international reputation for excellence in day surgery, and China has much to learn from our experience, we have also witnessed the rapid development of day surgery pathways in China, with notable strengths, particularly in the integration of new technologies, which in many areas surpass the innovation levels we currently have in the UK. Continued collaboration offers the UK a chance to benefit from these cutting-edge digital solutions.
